UPDATED Expression of Interest (The Lodge Wadjemup) / Public Art

An invitation for Expression of Interest (EOI) is being extended to experienced Nyungar visual artists.

EOIs will be accepted until Friday 5 April at noon AWST

Location:  Wadjmeup / Rottnest Island

Art Theory are pleased to invite experienced Nyungar artists / artist teams to express their interest in a permanent, public outdoor art commission for the Gathering Ground, within The Lodge Wadjemup.

The new Gathering Ground space is a space to accommodate a series of public / private events, including ceremonies and culture sharing with the Nyungar community. A social hub where guests, island visitors and tour operators are welcomed and able to meet, start a tour, or to just relax and take in the natural surrounds.

We are aiming to commission one artist for two (2) artwork opportunities within the site.

Artworks are to explore the Nyungar elders’ knowledge of Wadjemup being a place where time completes a circle.

Art Theory have been appointed as art consultants and have prepared an EOI document in collaboration with The Lodge Wadjemup and the Wadjemup Elders Committee.

Programme:

Artwork completion & installation is planned for late June 2024.

Artist fees:

$1,500 Shortlisted Artists – Concept fee (each) ex GST

$23,500 Selected Artist – Artist fee (excluding fabrication & installation) ex GST

Please fill out the form below and we will email you the EOI application.
